Capture The Magic In Music With Jeremy Shaw

Tonight I attended yet another fabulous workshop with Jeremy Shaw. It was about capturing, as the title says, the magic in music. To me it means capturing the mood, sentiment/emotion and story telling being delivered by the performer through the performance of his music. In this instance he was a guitar soloist singing solo (so lo that I could not hear him.......joking). He (sorry I did not get musician name) was very good indeed playing beautiful music and providing a fantastic performance for photography. If you are into music and want to get into photographing guitarist and singer in performance, this is one workshop you should not miss.

Together with the lighting set up and smoke machine, the musician told his stories through his songs and provided ample opportunities for everyone to capture the magic being delivered. Bravo to Jeremy Shaw, Canon and the musician for such a great workshop. It delivered everything that the title reflects.

I shot this workshop with the Canon 5DsR and a Sigma 85 mm f/1.4. If I ever had any doubt about my old Sigma 85 mm f/1.4, it soon disappeared. Frames after frames it delivered pin sharp images just like a trusted old friend who can always be depended on. No doubt, there are many new 85 mm lens on the market but with the deliverance of my trusted 85 mm f/1.4, it will be a long long time before I am tempted to upgrade. I always believe in making the most out of one's equipment and that include lenses. I am however open to a sponsorship by Canon Australia and will gladly use the 85 mm f/1.2 if Canon is willing to provide with one (even a used refurbished one) at no cost. So Canon if you are reading my blog, thanks.

Thank you Jeremy, Canon and the musician for a great workshop. For those who have not met Jeremy I have included a couple of shots of him.
