Minimalist
Minimalist, what does it mean? Stripping to the the bare element/elements, decluttering, less is more etc. It can also literally mean shooting in your bare element as in the raw.
To me minimalist is basically to declutter the image that is being captured, to include only the bare elements that bring a sense of being in the tranquil state of the environment that is so devoid of complexity where only the bare elements of the scene and subtle colour tonalities interplay with one another. Sometimes when life gets too complicated we find great relief through decluttering one's lifestyle, like having a single girlfriend or wife which means less complexity and arguments to be the centre of attention. Life can be bliss having just one centre of attention. The same goes for photography and art. At times we dwell too much into technicalities and often capture too much than necessary ending up with images not portraying the beauty of the bare elements that the tranquility that the images should portray. Being a minimalist also means stepping out the square and challenging oneself to be visually creative and not just capturing the obvious.
I am still a novice when it comes to minimalism and still learning to be creative in a simple and uncluttered manner.
The following images were taken at Fishermans Beach Collaroy in the afternoon/late afternoon. The first image is taken without any filters to show the scene as it was. The others were take with polariser, 10 stops neutral density and 6 stops neutral density.
