Edison & Krystal

I was at Fairfax Lookout North Head shooting seascape when a young couple arrived a bit later. At that time I was hurrying trying to catch the last glowing warm light in the sky and was setting up my camera and the filters when a young man approached me asking if I would take a photo of him (Edison) and his girlfriend (Krystal). As I was in the midst of setting up the camera and trying to get the best composition, I asked if he could wait for a minute or so.

As soon as I finished setting up my camera and took my shot, I turned to Edison and said to him that I was ready to take the photo of him and his girlfriend. As Edison approached me and handed me his smartphone, he whispered to me that he was going to propose to his girlfriend. My initial reaction was "wow", how lucky are these two young lovebirds to be so in love and ready to spend their lives together. It then also came to me that I must have been there at the right moment for a reason. Imagine a total stranger like me witnessing the proposal of this young man to his love. I was completely blown away, never had I been in such a joyful and special moment of two people that I have never met before. I somewhat felt quite privileged.

I took Edison's smartphone and took a few shots but was not sure if I had done this special moment for the young lovebirds any justice. I am not used to taking photos with smartphone. Consequently I suggested to Edison that I would use my camera to shoot some photos for him and his fiancee to be. The only thing was that he had to propose all over again.

Many congratulations Krystal and Edison, I wish the both of you a life full of happiness together.
