DeeWhy On a Winter's Day

DeeWhy on the upper north shore of Sydney. Just about more than a month ago, the northern beaches were battered by one of the worst storms in recent years. Beaches were washed off causing landslides in certain areas. Collaroy which is next to DeeWhy was the most affected of all with residential dwellings on the verge of collapse. Even today the beaches are fenced off as it is deemed too unsafe.

The drive to the Northern Beaches is always enjoyable particularly in the autumn and winter with the fresh and crispy sea air. DeeWhy Beach is one that I frequently visit as it offers wonderful photographic opportunities of the beach and seascape. With its' rockpool and rugged rocks splashed by the sea, it is very suited for long exposure seascape to show off the artistic and surreal nature of the sea. On the right day one can be rewarded with satisfying capture of the seascape at sunrise or sunset.

Here are some of the exposures taken. All images taken with Canon 5DsR, Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 II L lens, Lee Pro Glass ND and Lee Graduated ND stacked.
