#Canon Collective Shoot at North Narrabeen Rockpool
Sunrise shoot at North Narraben Rockpool with #CanonCollective. Shoot was at 6:30 am with Emma and Jenn of Canon Collective and other participants. Emma and Jenn were most helpful sharing their knowledge and Cokin filter kits.
I have always use Lee filter kits instead of the Cokin and it was interesting to find out how the Cokin faired. On this shoot Emma and Jenn loan me the Cokin 82mm adapter with 4 slots for my Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 lens on a Canon 5DsR. As I expected, the adapter with 4 slots was a bit too restrictive for ultra wide angle lens resulting in vingetting losing about 2 stops at the corners of the frame. Perhaps a two slots adapter, which I normally use, would have been better. All my Lee adpters have been reduced to two slots to reduce vingetting. The Cokin faired quite well with the exception of the vingetting. However, I am hooked on the Lees and will stick to it. The next filter sets to try is the Hi-Tech filter sets.
On this shoot I used the Cokin 4 stops neutral density for long exposure plus the 3 stops and 2 stops graduated neutral density filters.
One thing about shooting seascapes is you have to deal with salt spray which is not good for the front element of the lens and the filters. If you ever shoot on the beach beware of sea spray.
Thanks for looking.
